It all started with a simple idea… a water audit. Year 3 pupils at St Lawrence School began by becoming water detectives, working alongside Anglian Water to explore how water is used around our school. And what they discovered was powerful. They found hidden “silent leaks,” helped reduce wasted water, and even saved the school money—all while learning just how important water conservation really is. But that’s only the beginning of the story…

St Lawrence Primary School Year 4 pupils have been busy putting their brilliant minds to work as they took part in an exciting competition run by the Colchester Zoological Society — and what a journey it has been!

This week was a truly special moment for our young Agents of Change as pupils from St Lawrence Primary travelled to the Brentwood Centre to take part in the Healthy Schools Festival. With pupils and staff from 40 Essex schools attending, it was the perfect opportunity to share the story of Agents of Change and inspire others to take action in their own schools.

What an incredible start to our Agents of Change Museum Challenge, delivered in partnership with Colchester & Ipswich Museums!

This term, our youngest musicians took part in a wonderfully immersive water-themed music project, exploring sound, movement and expression through a shared creative experience.

This year, the Year 4 class did something truly special — they took a beloved Christmas classic and rewrote the lyrics to create a charity single all about saving water. What started as a fun classroom activity quickly turned into a meaningful project that brought together creativity, learning and community spirit.

The second Agents of Change Festival was nothing short of magical. Hosted at Essex Business School, University of Essex, the day brought together young change makers from local schools signed up to the Agents of Change initiative, all buzzing with excitement and energy from the moment they arrived.

At St Lawrence School, our Year 5 pupils have taken inspiration to a whole new level following their unforgettable visit to Essex Wildlife Trust’s Abberton Reservoir. What started as a school trip quickly grew into something much bigger… it was a visit that sparked ideas!

We are incredibly excited to share some fantastic news from St Lawrence School… Our brilliant Year 4 pupils have taken part in the Colchester Zoo STEM Challenge—and we are absolutely delighted to announce that they have WON the Lower Key Stage 2 competition! What an achievement!

This year, St Lawrence Primary School took part in Positive Noticing Day for the very first time — a powerful initiative created by Paul Dix and When the Adults Change. What followed was a day that was deeply emotional, joy-filled, and overflowing with love.
