As the cost of energy continues to rise, many families are thinking carefully about how they will manage heating their homes this winter. For some in our community, this is a very real and worrying challenge. With this in mind, we were incredibly grateful to receive a generous donation of hundreds of brand new winter coats, blankets, hot water bottles, cardigans and jumpers — all ready to help keep people warm during the colder months.

St Lawrence Primary School, Colchester, have planted the seeds of something truly special. As part of the very first Colchester Schools Gardening Competition, run in partnership with the Skinny Jean Gardener, their pupils created a stunning Agents of Change garden — proudly displayed outside the Mercury Theatre in Colchester.

Our Agents of Change had an unforgettable moment in their journey when Year 5 travelled miles to attend the very first Brill Schools Fest. It was a huge honour to be invited to showcase the incredible work they had been doing as part of the Agents of Change initiative — and they did not disappoint.

At St Lawrence Primary School, we believe that even the smallest act of kindness can create ripples of joy — and this World Compliment Day, our young Agents of Change proved it in the most wonderful ways.

As we kick off the new year, it’s the perfect time to look back and celebrate what an amazing start it has been for Agents of Change at St Lawrence Primary School.

The children of St Lawrence Primary School recently teamed up with Volunteer Matters for an incredible project that showed just how powerful young voices can be. Their mission? To inspire the staff at the London offices of The Discovery Channel to make sustainable pledges for the planet.

Sometimes, all it takes is one idea, one brave step, and one passionate heart to ignite something extraordinary — and that’s exactly what happened at St Lawrence Primary School.

The children of St Lawrence Primary School were deeply moved by the events following Euro 2020, when the England men’s football squad faced horrific racist abuse on social media after the final. Rather than feeling powerless, they wanted to stand up, speak out, and show their support.

Year 6 didn’t stop at writing to Sir David Attenborough — that was just the beginning. Energised by the impact of being heard, they wanted to SHOUT OUT LOUD, using the Agents of Change initiative to explore something truly powerful: their voice.

Our very first whole-school Agents of Change project was nothing short of extraordinary — a moment that will stay with us for a long time to come.

The Year 6 children had a bold idea — if Agents of Change was going to make waves, why not tell the world about it? Determined to share their school’s incredible new initiative, they set to work writing letters to famous and influential figures, pouring their passion, creativity, and belief into every word.

Led by the incredible Christine Alexander, the Year 4 children threw themselves wholeheartedly into an exciting Agents of Change project all about connection — and what a journey it became!

After many hours of dreaming, planning, designing, editing, tweaking (and yes… tweaking again!), today was the day it all came to life. The Agents of Change initiative officially launched at St Lawrence Primary School in Colchester — and what a moment it was!
