When Year 6 Found the Power of their Voices
Year 6 didn’t stop at writing to Sir David Attenborough — that was just the beginning. Energised by the impact of being heard, they wanted to SHOUT OUT LOUD, using the Agents of Change initiative to explore something truly powerful: their voice.
Through this project, the children began to understand that their words matter. That they have control over the messages they share, the causes they stand for, and the future they are helping to shape. With confidence growing and purpose ignited, Year 6 set their sights even higher.
They wrote to HM The Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as a range of inspirational authors whose stories have encouraged, challenged, and empowered generations of young readers. Each letter was thoughtful, passionate, and full of belief — sharing not only what Agents of Change means to them, but why they care so deeply about the world around them.
This wasn’t just letter writing. It was an act of courage. A declaration that young people have ideas worth listening to, values worth sharing, and dreams worth defending. Year 6 learned first-hand that speaking up can feel daunting — but it is also how change begins.
Through Agents of Change, these children discovered that they are not “too young” to make a difference. Their voices are strong. Their opinions are valid. And their actions today are helping to mould the future of tomorrow.
🌟 Well done, Year 6 — proof that when young people believe in themselves and use their voices, the world really does listen.
