A Moment That United Us All

Our very first whole-school Agents of Change project was nothing short of extraordinary — a moment that will stay with us for a long time to come.

We chose to come together around the project “Make a pebble to leave out”, and with that simple idea, something incredibly powerful began to grow. Around 250 children and staff at St Lawrence set to work designing and decorating pebbles, each one unique, each one filled with intention. Bright rainbow colours reflected our school’s values and the vibrant spirit of Agents of Change, while messages of love, joy, kindness, and hope were carefully written onto every stone.

They were beautiful — but more than that, they carried meaning.

We knew these pebbles couldn’t simply be placed anywhere. If this project was to truly matter, it needed heart, purpose, and connection. So we hatched a plan.

Together, the whole school walked to the local riverfront, gathering beneath a tree that would become the centre of something special. One by one, the pebbles were placed carefully on the ground, forming a stunning and heartfelt art installation — created by children, for the community.

Then came the invitation. Members of our community were encouraged to visit, to choose a pebble that spoke to them, and to decide its next journey: to keep it as a reminder they were not alone, or to pass it on and continue the ripple of kindness.

The moment was truly magical. A shared experience of creativity, compassion, and connection — bringing together school and community in the most meaningful way.

This is what Agents of Change is all about: small actions, taken together, creating something powerful enough to brighten lives and spread hope far beyond our school gates.
