Connecting Through Dance

Led by the incredible Christine Alexander, the Year 4 children threw themselves wholeheartedly into an exciting Agents of Change project all about connection — and what a journey it became!

The children worked tirelessly to learn the socially trending and joy-filled Jerusalema dance, practising with energy, determination, and huge smiles along the way. But this project was about so much more than learning choreography. Year 4 connected with a school in a village in Nepal, where children had already danced Jerusalema and sent a video for them to learn from. Across continents and cultures, a shared love of music and movement brought these children together — proving that connection truly knows no borders.

Through teamwork, encouragement, and plenty of rehearsals, Year 4 grew into an inspiring and confident dance troupe. And once the rehearsals were complete, the creative magic really began. Working alongside Mrs Clark, the children transformed their hard work into a full music video.

Set against the breathtaking summer scenery of Rowhedge village, the dancers took to the riverbanks, recreation grounds, and around the local church, filling each location with energy, joy, and rhythm. The result? An absolutely outstanding video that captured not just a dance, but a powerful message of unity and connection.

And the impact didn’t stop there. Inspired by their success, the children went on to connect with pupils from other schools, encouraging them to get moving and join in with this fun, inclusive global trend.

Amazing work, Year 4! Check out their fantastic video here and see how dance can bring the world a little closer together: Year 4's Jeruslema Dance Challenge
