Spreading Joy on World Compliment Day

At St Lawrence Primary School, we believe that even the smallest act of kindness can create ripples of joy — and this World Compliment Day, our young Agents of Change proved it in the most wonderful ways.

Every year on 1st March, World Compliment Day encourages us to share appreciation and spread happiness through simple gestures. The children of St Lawrence took this message to heart, deciding that the world could use a little extra joy — and they set out to deliver it in the most creative, thoughtful ways.

Foundation Stage, children made beautiful paper flowers and walked through the village, leaving them on cars and giving them to shopkeepers with beaming smiles. Another year group worked together to create a huge poster, made from individual notes filled with heartfelt messages — a collective display of kindness that warmed hearts far and wide.

The spirit of giving didn’t stop at the school gates. Some pupils took their flowers and notes into the town centre, handing them to passers-by and offering verbal compliments that left strangers smiling. Others created bookmarks and carefully tucked them into library books, turning ordinary moments into delightful surprises for the public to discover.

It was a day full of laughter, excitement, and heartfelt connection — a beautiful reminder that even the smallest gestures can lift spirits, strengthen communities, and inspire change. Through their thoughtfulness, creativity, and love, the children of St Lawrence showed that kindness is contagious, and that joy grows when it’s shared.
