Year 4 Turn Christmas Magic Into Life-Saving Music!
At St Lawrence Primary School, their Year 4 pupils have truly shown what it means to be AWESOME Agents of Change — combining creativity, teamwork, and compassion to support an incredible cause: the British Heart Foundation.
Their journey began in the classroom with their teacher Mrs Clark and Teaching Assistants Miss Horton, Mrs Thrower and Miss Whitehead, where they explored the magic behind music and lyrics. They listened carefully to how songs are built, spotting rhyming patterns, counting syllables, and discovering how lyrics can flow and fit together. It wasn’t just about singing — it was about understanding how words can be shaped to send a message.
Once they had researched the important work of the British Heart Foundation, they felt inspired to take action. They learned about how the charity helps fund life-saving research into heart and circulatory diseases, and how donations can truly change and save lives.
With this powerful knowledge, the children set to work on something very special. They chose the Christmas classic “All I Want for Christmas” by Mariah Carey and reimagined it with brand new lyrics — turning a festive favourite into a message of hope, awareness, and support for an amazing cause.
The classroom became a hub of creativity, discussion, laughter and determination as Year 4 worked together to perfect their lyrics. Every line had meaning. Every word had purpose. And most importantly, every child understood the impact their voices could have.
But they didn’t stop there. Their goal wasn’t just to create a song — it was to inspire action. They wanted to encourage people to donate and support the British Heart Foundation this Christmas, helping fund vital research that could save lives in the future.
This project is a brilliant example of what Agents of Change is all about: children using their voices, talents and ideas to make a real difference in the world around them. We are so proud of Year 4 for their creativity, teamwork and compassion. They’ve shown that even the smallest voices, when working together, can carry a powerful message.
If you are able to support their cause, please consider donating to help the British Heart Foundation continue their life-saving work.
