From Ripples to Waves: Becoming Water Champions
At Agents of Change, we believe that young people have the power to make a difference. This year, the pupils at St Lawrence have certainly proved that when children are given a voice, amazing things can happen. Throughout the academic year, our pupils have been on an incredible journey focused on one important mission: saving water. What started as a conversation about water conservation quickly grew into something much bigger. The children didn't just learn about the issue – they took action.
Across the school, pupils used their creativity, determination and passion to spread their message. They wrote and performed original songs, created music and videos, and shared their work with audiences far beyond the school gates. Their powerful messages travelled around the world, encouraging others to think differently about the way we use water.
The children also became campaigners and advocates. They wrote letters to large national companies, local businesses, schools, media organisations and community groups, challenging them to think about their water usage and consider how small changes can make a big difference. Every letter, every video and every conversation added another ripple to a growing wave of change.
One of the highlights of the year was taking part in the Anglian Water Eco Award. The pupils proudly showcased their learning, projects and actions, demonstrating how young people can lead the way when it comes to protecting our planet.
The impact of their work was so impressive that Anglian Water wanted to see it for themselves. Their team visited St Lawrence to meet the children and staff, hear their stories and learn more about the projects that had captured so much attention. During their visit, they interviewed pupils and staff members and created a series of fantastic videos celebrating the school's work and the children's commitment to making a difference.

The visit was a wonderful opportunity for the children to reflect on just how far their message had travelled. What began as classroom discussions had grown into meaningful action, inspiring people both within and beyond the local community.
This project perfectly captures the ethos of Agents of Change. We believe that every child can be a changemaker. When young people identify an issue they care about, learn about it deeply and take action, they discover that their voices matter and that they have the power to influence the world around them.
The pupils at St Lawrence have shown that you do not need to be famous, powerful or grown-up to make a difference. You simply need an idea, a belief that change is possible and the courage to take that first step.
Their journey reminds us that every great wave starts with a single ripple. We are incredibly proud of everything the children have achieved this year and cannot wait to see what changes they create next. Because when children become Agents of Change, extraordinary things happen.
