Stretch, Breathe, Believe: 30 Days of YogaBugs at St Lawrence

St Lawrence Primary School recently took on a challenge that brought energy, calm and community spirit to every corner of school life. Working alongside YogaBugs, pupils and staff completed an inspiring Agents of Change project: 30 days of yoga.

From the very first day, the excitement was clear. Breaktimes were transformed as children gathered to stretch, practise breathing, and try out new poses. Playgrounds and school spaces were filled with laughter, concentration and plenty of impressive balancing attempts as pupils encouraged one another to keep going and give every pose a try. It quickly became something children looked forward to each day, and it was wonderful to see so many joining in with confidence and enthusiasm.

The challenge did not stop at the school gates. Families were given logins so they could take part at home too, meaning the project became something shared across the whole community. Children were able to practise with parents, siblings and carers, bringing the Agents of Change message into living rooms and kitchens, and creating a sense of togetherness beyond the classroom.

Teachers also got involved, taking turns to participate and support the challenge. Seeing adults joining in, stretching alongside pupils and giving it their best effort added to the fun and reminded everyone that learning and wellbeing are for all ages. It created a positive atmosphere where pupils felt encouraged, supported and proud to be part of something bigger.

What made the 30-day yoga challenge so special was not just the poses or the physical activity, but the sense of unity it created. It gave children a daily opportunity to slow down, reset and look after their wellbeing, while also building determination and commitment. Completing something every day for a whole month takes real effort, and pupils showed incredible motivation in sticking with it.

This project was a perfect example of what Agents of Change is all about. It showed how small actions, repeated daily, can create meaningful change. It encouraged healthy habits, supported mental wellbeing, and brought pupils, staff and families together through a shared goal.

The 30 days of yoga were full of stretching, smiles and strong teamwork, and the impact will last far beyond the final day. It was an inspiring reminder that when a school community comes together, amazing things can happen.
