Turning the Spark into Action

Over 450 pupils. Schools from across Essex. One incredible day. And one very important question… WHAT NOW?

This year, Agents of Change was incredibly proud to team up with Let’s Talk Trash, helping to make an already brilliant environmental event the start of something even bigger. At Braxted Park, pupils raced, built, acted, investigated, created and problem-solved their way through a day packed with environmental learning. The buzz was incredible – children weren't just hearing about environmental issues, they were getting stuck in, asking questions and discovering what they could do about them.

The event creates the spark. We help turn it into action.

That has been the driving idea behind our partnership. A fantastic event can inspire children – but what happens when they get back to school? WHAT NOW? Agents of Change wanted to be that part of the story. Alongside resources supporting the workshops on the day, we've created follow-on activities, classroom resources and schemes of work for primary year groups, helping teachers take that excitement straight back into school. Children can investigate litter, explore waste and the 6Rs, rethink what we throw away, reuse and repurpose materials, create campaigns and take on practical environmental challenges. Because we don't want children to leave thinking: “That was a great day.” We want them thinking: “What can we do next?”

One day. Hundreds of sparks.

More than 450 pupils have now returned to schools across Essex with new ideas, new questions and, hopefully, a determination to make a difference. And that's where the next chapter begins. We can't wait to see those ideas become projects, investigations, campaigns and real changes in schools, homes and communities.
